Welcome to my Autoethnographic Literacy Narrative

This project chronicles my thirty one year journey of writing. After investigating all of the samples of writing, I have some overall conclusions.

First, the only papers I remember writing were the diary entries, fantasy short story, and training documents for Harley-Davidson. This is amazing when you consider the sheer number of papers I wrote in high school and college. I think this illustrates the point that students should write what is relevant to them. I apparently did not learn much by writing paper after paper on topics I did not care about.

Secondly, writing is a powerful method of communication and expression. It can be therapeutic. I felt better in class when I was able to express how I felt at eleven and perhaps how some of my students feel. It can touch other peoples' lives by communicating feelings and developing relationships.

Finally, writing can make a difference. Whether you are seeing a problem through another person's perspective or writing a Congressperson, writing can create justice where other methods of communication cannot.
